The Next FOSMS Committee Meeting Takes Place on Tuesday 4th June 2024 at 7pm.
Through our fundraising initiatives and the generosity of our supporters, we make a real difference to the school life of all our pupils.
Here’s a quick reminder of some of the recent events we’ve held and the money we’ve raised so far:
ONGOING
Pre-Loved School Uniform
The revamped FOSMS Pre-Loved Uniform Shop has been an amazing success – with many parents delighted to now be able to pick up a range of items in a variety of sizes in exchange for a small donation to FOSMS.
Sales are still ongoing, however, we are already way ahead of the total raised during last year.
MARCH 2024
Easter Raffle
The famous FOSMS Easter Raffle was a great success – in fact this year, we sold the most tickets ever!
Taking place in the final school worship before the Easter holidays, the children helped build the tension as the tickets were drawn.
Our wonderful school community pulled out all the stops. It wasn’t just the amazing prizes donated by our generous supporters, but also the sheer volume of tickets sold that made this such a fantastic event.
This event raised £1,150.00.
FEBRUARY 2024
Half Term
Disco Party
Our Half Term Disco Party was a great success, with more than 100 pupils from across the school dancing the night away to their favourite tunes.
With lots of fun and games and treats, the children had a wonderful time!
This event raised over £350.00.
JANUARY 2024
National Popcorn Day
Lots of pupils and parents joined us as we celebrated National Popcorn Day.
We had delicious, freshly popped popcorn, soft drinks, sweets and treats and it was the perfect way to end the week!
This event raised £217.00.
DECEMBER 2023
Christmas Production Brochures
The popular FOSMS Christmas Brochure that accompanies the school productions were packed with everything you needed to know about the shows and of course, they were the only place to see your child’s festive portrait that ties in with each production.
These limited edition publications were very popular and made a wonderful keepsake of a very special time in the children’s lives
This activity raised around £700.00.
DECEMBER 2023
Santa Run
One of the staples of our fundraising calendar is the famous Santa Run, where the FOSMS team help Santa as he makes a whistle-stop tour of the village.
Father Christmas and his merry helpers brought festive cheer around the area meeting young and old along the way.
This event raised £690.00.
NOVEMBER 2023
Christmas Jumpers
We thought it was crazy that many parents feel pressured to buy expensive new Christmas jumpers every year – especially as they are often only ever worn once or twice before they no longer fit.
So we came up with a solution!
We added Christmas jumpers to the FOSMS Pre-Loved Uniform Shop where they could be exchanged for a small donation to FOSMS.
This first year trial raised around £20.00.
November 2023
Bonfire & Fireworks Display
One of our biggest and most popular fundraisers of the year is the famous Mellor Bonfire Night. And what a night it was! As the delicious smells from the BBQ filled the air, the mulled wine and hot chocolate stalls were very popular from the moment the gates opened.
We welcomed many people from the village and beyond and we saw families new and returning, hosted the young and the old in what was a truly special community event. A spectacular fireworks display rounded off a wonderful evening and although it rained heavily throughout, we received lots of positive feedback from those in attendance.
This event raised over £1,500.00.
OCTOBER 2023
Spooky Disco
Our October Spooky Disco was a great success, with more than 100 pupils from across the school dressing up in wonderfully scary costumes, enjoying grizzly games, spooky treats and devilish dancing.
This event raised over £350.00.
